Cellular Jail, located at Port Blair, stood mute witness to the tortures meted out to the freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in this jail. The jail, completed in the year 1906 acquired the name ‘Cellular’ because it is entirely made up of individual cells for the solitary confinement.

Established in 1836, one of Asia's largest saw mills was set up by the Britishers on Chatham Island. The mill is still functional even to this day. The place is shown on the reverse side of Rupee 20 note in India. The park is named in commemoration of Harriet Tytler, the second wife of Robert Christopher Tytler, a British army officer.
